The Technical Support Specialist (Program Coordinator) for the Center for Public Interest Journalism advances the work of a center devoted to improving the quality and quantity of public affairs reporting to the Delaware Valley. S/he manages events and programs, external communications, including web and social media, and internal communications within Temple University. Creates promotional materials (email blasts, web descriptions, web-based invitation services, Facebook, Twitter posts, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing and/or urban studies. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated experience with social media sites and web content.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills.
*Familiarity with the Greater Philadelphia media landscape, including news organizations working in print, radio, TV, and online media.
*Familiarity with WordPress and experience managing websites, both front-end and back-end.
*Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population.
*Ability to work independently and function as part of a team, making decisions collaboratively.
Preferred:
*Knowledge of Photoshop, as well as video and audio production experience.
*Knowledge of Philadelphia’s geography and neighborhoods.
