As part of an ongoing sponsorship program, the Center recently sent five Philadelphia-based public interest news and application developers to the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting (NICAR) conference from February 28 to March 3 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Center invited sponsorship recipients to share feedback on the conference with the Philadelphia journalism community. Pam Selle, application developer for AxisPhilly, shared her thoughts on the AxisPhilly apps blog and Mike Ball shared his on his personal site. Both provide a valuable overview of knowledge gained and links to the work of innovators in the field. We’ll share more updates from sponsorship recipients as we receive them.
Also, if you’re interested in how data, applications and graphics can advance public interest news, register now to work with these developers and local journalists at the PhillyTechWeek NewsHackathon, sponsored by the Center, on Saturday, April 27, 2013.
