Dozens of journalists gathered at the Philadelphia Inquirer to brainstorm data journalism projects over lunch Friday afternoon, in advance of the News Hackathon scheduled in conjunction with Barcamp NewsInnovation next month at Temple University.
Participants suggested building tools for analyzing property licenses, sheriff sales, permits to carry weapons, and more. Examples from previous hackathons include PhillyRapSheet.com, PhillyAddress.com and LGBTrights.me.
The fifth annual BarCamp NewsInnovation unconference and third annual News Hackathon will take place on April 27th at Annenberg Hall, on the main campus of Temple University in North Philadelphia.
Tickets are $5, including both events, lunch and a closing reception. Register now at bcni2013.eventbrite.com
