Video: Community leaders and journalists meet at the Media Mobilizing Project
Last month, dozens of community leaders and local journalists packed the headquarters of the Media Mobilizing Project in West Philadelphia for our latest community conversation.
While addressing planned topics including education, labor and poverty, much of the discussion focused on how community organizations can get their messages out, work together with journalists and foster more accurate coverage of their issues.
The event was organized by the Center for Public Interest Journalism at Temple University and moderated by Temple Journalism Professor George Miller.
The Center, with the help of local journalists’ associations, has commenced a series of conversations on news coverage of diverse communities in Philadelphia, including previous events at the Norris Square Civic Association, Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church and Asian Arts Initiative.
