CPIJ hosts watchdog reporting workshop in Center City

1The Center for Public Interest Journalism played host this week to a two-day Watchdog Reporting Workshop, led by the Mark Horvit, executive director of Investigative Reporters & Editors, and Beth Daley, investigative reporter and director of partnerships at the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, both pictured at left.

The workshop taught the basics including how to mine the internet for information that leads to compelling stories, how to crunch data, how to conduct an investigative interview and how to investigate businesses and nonprofits.

The sessions and the follow-up training were offered for free, thanks to the support from Sigma Delta Chi Foundation.
