Community leaders and journalists meet in Northeast Philadelphia

The Center for Public Interest Journalism recently organized our latest community conversation, hosted this time at the Mayfair Community Development Corporation in Northeast Philadelphia.

Journalists discussed how to find the right reporters, how to pitch and tell stories, and the realities of limited newsroom resources, while community leaders talked about advocating for their neighborhoods in periods of change and adaptation.

The Center has been leading a series of conversations on news coverage of diverse communities in Philadelphia, including previous events at the Media Mobilizing Project, Norris Square Civic Association, Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church and Asian Arts InitiativeThe events have been moderated by Temple Journalism Professor George Miller.
